The man known as Don Vito on MTV’s “Viva La Bam” show has been sentenced to 10 years to life on probation after he was convicted on two counts of sexual assault on a child.

Vincent Margera, 51, of West Chester, Pa., was also ordered Thursday not to appear as the Don Vito character for 10 years. His defense attorney had argued that Margera had taken on Don Vito’s outrageous and profane character at the time of the incident.

The report claims Margera is currently at a Level 1 status, meaning there are limitations on his movement and that he is under suicide watch. According to the Post, Mackey isn’t sure if Margera tried to kill himself or threatened suicide at the jail where he was being held. His sentencing is scheduled for December 20, and Margera faces anywhere from two years to life behind bars. He will remain in police custody until his sentencing.

Perez Hilton Causes Trouble For Bam Margera

MTV personality Vincent Margera, known as “Uncle Don Vito” on the show Viva La Bam, faces more legal trouble in connection with charges that he fondled girls during an appearance at the Colorado Mills mall in August 2006.

The television star has been charged with 12 felony counts of violating bail, prosecutors announced today.

Authorities did not disclose details of those charges except to say that they happened in Pennsylvania where he lives and did not involve sexual contact. His first court appearance on those charges is scheduled for Sept. 5 in Jefferson County Court.

Margera was supposed to go on trial today in connection with three counts of sexual assault filed by three girls, ages 13 to 15, who claim he groped and fondled them during an autograph session at the mall. One girl testified at a preliminary hearing in February that Margera felt her buttocks and thigh and another girl said he grabbed her breast. He pleaded not guilty.

The assault trial was delayed until Oct. 22, according to the Jefferson and Gilpin District Attorney’s Office.

Citations for public drunkenness: Brandon Margera, 27, of Thornton, Delaware County, was cited for disorderly conduct June 18 after he allegedly created a disturbance about 6:15 p.m. on South Main Street, police said.
