A top executive for CBS says the company is negotiating with comedian Drew Carey to host “The Price is Right,” but is still considering other candidates to succeed Bob Barker.

CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler says hopefully they’ll make a decision soon.

She says they are in talks with Carey but that it would be, quote “stupid for us not to be in talks with Drew.”

Carey starred on the ABC comedy “The Drew Carey Show” from 1995-2004. He is set to host the CBS prime-time game show “Power of 10,” which premieres August 7.

Barker announced last October he would retire in June after hosting the series since it began its daytime run on CBS in 1972.

He taped his final episode June 6, and it aired several days later.

Drew, we love you but Rosie O’Donnell is the best of all possible worlds to host TPIR.
